Not-for-profit member-owned fund — no longer sells OSHC
CBHS OSHC no longer sells Overseas Student Health Cover to new members. The fund states on its own site that OSHC ended for new members on 1 November 2025, while existing member cover and benefits continue as normal. This page is kept because older OSHC lists — including the Private Health Insurance Ombudsman's OSHC page — still carry its name. The terms below describe the fund's general health cover for continuing members and are reference only: no CBHS OSHC policy can be quoted or bought here.
What the policy covers

- 100% of charges raised by the public hospital for shared-ward, intensive care, same-day, post-operative, emergency and outpatient department services
- Out-of-hospital medical
- GP consultations (100% MBS) · Specialist consultations (85-100% MBS) · Pathology and radiology (85-100% MBS)
- Prescriptions (PBS)
- Up to $50 per prescription, annual max $300 (single) / $600 (family)

- 100% ambulance cover
- Mental health
- Covered; CBHS mental wellbeing programs included
- Extras add-on
- Optional Top Extras cover for dental, optical, physio, chiro
- Gap arrangements
- Variable; CBHS has a gap cover scheme to reduce out-of-pocket costs
Waiting periods
The OSHC Deed caps these. No approved insurer may impose longer than 12 months for a pre-existing condition or pregnancy, or 2 months for psychiatric care.
